elansprint72 Posted September 10, 2006 Share #21 Posted September 10, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) William, Excellent riposte! From what I remember, Plantagenet dynasty originated from Le Mans(!), they have wonderful "Plantagenet Historic City" over there but unfortunately every time I have been to that place I have be pre-occupied with les affaires modernes. The clock-tower in Ron's add-on shot reminds me of certain college in an academic town a few miles NNE. What we need to know is: did you guys buy a hat and if so; let's see it! Rgds, Pete. Advertisement Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 Hi elansprint72, Take a look here at lock hatters (1). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lambroving Posted September 10, 2006 Share #22 Posted September 10, 2006 Pete, Being rather fussy, usually they have to make mine. I took Ron's suggestion between two patterns. Almost the only place left to buy a decent flat cap now that Herbert Johnson moved from New Bond St. and was merged with Swaine & Adeney and Brigg some years ago. That tower also looks a bit like the one on Wingfield Castle too...
Sandokan Posted September 11, 2006 Share #23 Posted September 11, 2006 Good shot. And an entertaining read - the Normans were actually descendents from Norse-Men I believe. The British Royal Family - are Germans, or were until the Greeks joined in. For a real English Gentleman of course, you need to go to India, where we have thousands of ex-army officers, still wearing tweeds and drinking G&T in the club, after the sun has gone down over the yard yarm. ddp Posted September 11, 2006 Share #25 Posted September 11, 2006 These photos really bring back memories....my ex-in laws live around the corner on Jermyn Street across from Turnbull & Asser. I always enjoyed walking in that neighborhood....
lambroving Posted September 14, 2006 Share #26 Posted September 14, 2006 Dan, Poor Ron was dragged up and down Jermyn Street as well. Best ready-made country shirts from the older of the two Harvie & Hudson locations. Very reasonable too. Nothing remotely that good available here at any price. Small world...
