Sold my Leica

I was indicating that it is adieu, unless the fabled R10 is worthy of the journey back from the Nikon D3. Apologies if I offended anyone, but in the real world we have to make decisions, and Leica is losing ground to innovation, unless my impatience is seen as being disloyal to the 'red dot'.

My R8 camera and goodies are up for sale on eBay, will get back to the red dot again when and if the R10 appears, otherwise Nikon has my business.

Good idea.

Sorry to hear this. In the end the choice of equipment all comes down to personal preference. One should use what one feels best with. If that is Nikon for you, so be it. For many of us here, it is Leica. Several people here use many different camera systems. I must admit that I have grown to love a Hasselblad H system over the past half year ;-) Too bad that a H3D series is way too much €€€ for non-professional use. Maybe I should rob a bank ;-)

What's the EBay link to yer aucshun?

PS - You'll miss that camera. One day you'll say, "Gods, I was an idiot for selling that!" :)

Umm... So? Why do people still buy old Ferraris and Aston Martins? Is it because they are so much better than today's cars? No.

Innovation is fine, but it doesn't give a product soul, or history, or attached memories. Jaysus H on a crutch!

Didn't realise that the N word would ruffle so many feathers, some of you are very touchy, but again I apologise, my intention was to stimulate debate not raise ironic hackles.

Seems a Nikon forum would be more to the point. Not a bad decision btw if you don't want to stay with Leica to switch to Nikon. I made a similar mistake when I grew impatient for the DMR. Moved to Canon and sold all my Leica R stuff. Stupid, stupid decision on my part it turns out now. Canon was so boring...But technically on the ball, can't say anything against it. Happy to have closed that chapter.

Your intention was to start an argument because you didn't have enough coffee today.

AND, you didn't say what your auction number was.

I don't think you actually HAVE an R8 for sale.

well there does seem to be a lot of rumbles of "i'm selling my R gear because the new MD of Leica sure made it sould like a dead end line'

There are several who have done, and now go N, protesting "ill be back when (IF?) there is an R10.

Ifr the MD DOES follow the site, then it might make sense to give some re assurances. The DMR even with only 1/2 to 2/3 the pixels still produce some of the best SLR images around.

I for one have quite an R collection, incl R9/DMR. If I have to mount on some C that would be disappointing but hey, as long as the DMR works I actually get all the resolution I want, right now.

That said, it would be a shame if the rumour mill actually caused an un necessary defection from Leica.

regards

Victor

In reply to fastfash aka Dana from the USA. I no longer have the beautiful R8, it was bought by a UK buyer, still have a collection of lenses, power winder & driver and tripod. I take on board that this might have been the biggest mistake since the invasion of Iraq, but my purse is open to a great R10, if it ever comes along to match or beat the D3! PACE folks.

...this might have been the biggest mistake since the invasion of Iraq ...

Now if you're (still) buying into R, that would be a bigger mistake than the biggest mistake and the invasion of Iraq. LOL

If you need the money for a D3 or something else, selling the R right NOW makes perfect sense. :)
