This looks like a black paint Leicaflex. It is not that uncommon and I have seen servel of them previously.

that was the problem, it was not black paint! it was black chrome!..so I did not buy it...I returned it to the seller...

I think it's rare, but not unique: I am not so engaged in R-line history, but am sure to have seen pictures of the Leicaflex 1st type in black finish.

Hello Luigi,

the first type in black paint, yes there were made some hundreds..but I never see it again in black chrome finish.

.this must be a refinished...

did Leitz a black chrome finish at any camera at that time....no!...I do not think that it was even possible at that time!

regards,

Jan,

all the buttons and levers plus the lightmeter cover seem to be black paint. The top cover is black chrome. Either it was black paint originally and replaced some time by CS by a black chrome one ( e.g. all the spare parts you get from CS today for the black M2 and M3 are black chrome), or somebody did it by himself, as there are galvanic companies who black chrome former chrome parts.

As far as I know, the Leicaflexes if black, were all black paint, never chrome.

Regards

Oliver
