Bought a mint example a few weeks ago and tried it out , again with Neopan 400.

Very light and handy lens... really love it's usability and sharpness for the price.

I have one myself. Cracking little lens. I don't know if yours came with it's lens hood, mine didn't, then after I got it I also bought a 135/4 Tele-Elmar with hood and the two lenses share the same hood! I find the one drawback with the lens is it's slight susceptability to flare so getting the "free" hood was great. Enjoy the lens!

yes mine came with the rubber hood....works fine so far but have yet to push it into a flare situation..will do my best to avoid if at all possible as I hear from others that it is prone to flare....

still a cracking lens tho'

Andy I have the rubber hood too but there is a metal hood, Leica part nr. 12575 that comes with it's own lens cap Leica part nr. 14033. They come with the 135/4 TE but fit the 90/2.8 thin TE is well. Very, very nice hood - my rubber one is looking a bit worse for wear...

Andy, you won't have to try hard - it flares like a pig !!

I was really impressed with the results and then I shot a wedding on film and used my thin Elmarit for back lit close-ups of the B&G during the Ceremony - CRIKES.

Great lens to have around though.

Andy,

thought I'd disposed of the images, but here's one. Some were much worse.

I was using the rubber lens hood which should be longer IMO. The lens is a fabulous buy at the price they go for.

I did a lot of my music pictures with this lens, great lens! but like Rolo told you..be carefully with flare..

...I sold it for a APO Summicron because of that...but "on stage" the danger for that is quite often..

Jan

Here it is with the 12575 hood. Great thing about the hood is that it reverses on the lens for easy storage and top it off with a 14033 hood cap you're all set.

That helps a lot with regards to flare, but if the sun is low and at the right angle it still flares quite a lot (this is from mid January when the sun is very low here):
