lphong Posted February 15, 2008 Share #3 Â Posted February 15, 2008 I rang up and ask them about repairing time before. They told me that the technicians only work on Mondays and Tuesdays...I am thinking about sending my M6 in for a minor readjustment.
Michael-IIIf Posted February 15, 2008 Share #4 Â Posted February 15, 2008 Holy cow, Bill. Who did you bribe, sleep with or blackmail to get this service? Â Mine was months and months and months. Â Still, the silver lining on that particular cloud was how separation made the heart grow fonder.
elansprint72 Posted February 16, 2008 Share #5 Â Posted February 16, 2008 Must surely be that they have given up sending them to Germany, where they are up to their ears in problems of a more expensive kind.

I thought there was only one and when he went on holiday, the whole department shut down. Still it's an improvement. I assume you got back the same camera you sent in and it wasn't just a refurb taken from a bin marked "D2 - fixed, again, third time lucky?".... Â It is a bit of M. Mouse operation though... masjah Posted February 16, 2008 Share #7 Â Posted February 16, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well, I've just asked them for a spare part for a Pradovit projector that was 37 years old. It was in the post to me within a day or so. I was delighted with that. Try getting parts for 37 year old gear from other manufacturers.
Peter Enkel Posted February 23, 2008 Share #8 Â Posted February 23, 2008 The sensor of my D3 failed within 3 months from buying it new! To say the least I felt a little disillusioned with the camera and my confidence in it has been somewhat blunted. Â Â My dealer returned the D3 to Germany for repair some three weeks ago and I have been advised the I might need to wait till the end of February before I get it back! Â Having read this thread, I now wonder why the camera was not sent to Leica UK for repair. Before I approach the dealer with this, does anyone out there have any thoughts on this? Â Ah well, perhaps I should have bitten the bullet and bought an M8 instead.
stunsworth Posted February 23, 2008 Share #9 Â Posted February 23, 2008 Peter, Leica UK are not able to undertake all repairs. For example M8 repairs need to go back to Solms, as do certain of the lenses needing coding. It's probably the same with the D3.
andybarton Posted February 23, 2008 Share #10  Posted February 23, 2008 MK can service film Ms and Rs before the R8  They can CLA any lens, but not code all of them  AFAIK, they can't do anything to any Panaleica - it wouldn't surprise me if these get sent out to a Panasonic repair place. Paul Reading Posted February 24, 2008 Share #11 Â Posted February 24, 2008 My Digilux 2 failed last year, my dealer Wey Cameras in Weybridge sent it is to Germany where it was repaired FOC, I assume it was suffering from a known fault. Â Alas Wey Cameras are no more, does anyone know who the nearest proper Leica dealer is to Guildford. This shop will be and is sorely missed by me.
