stuny Posted February 4, 2008 Share #5 Posted February 4, 2008 Caryl - The Monterey Bay Aquarium is one of the best in the world, and you've done lovely justice to these uncomplicated animals which we give wide berth to in the wild. Peter - Water quickly absorbs all the longer wavelengths of light, and if there is a significant amount of water between the subject and the light source, everything will be blue. With underwater flash photography we are usually pleasantly surprised at how colorful the images are compared to what we saw through our masks. Caryl’s TZ3 (and the FX07 and its C-Lux-2 twin) have an underwater setting which changes the color balance to restore the longer wavelength colors. In Caryl’s photos, the jellyfish tanks are small enough that there was probably only a small difference between what she saw and what the camera adjusted to.
