Guest rontr6 Posted January 23, 2008 Share #1 Posted January 23, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Folks I've just found this forum, and very interesting it is too. I've been using M Leicas [2 & 3] for about 20 years, mainly for landscapes while hillwalking in Scotland and the English Lake District. My favourite lens for this is a pre aspherical 35 Summicron. I've also owned a 3C and 3F for a long number of years but haven't really used them much recently, however to get to the point I bought a 1f in reasonable condition last summer for a very reasonable price and started using it along with the CV 15 and 25 lenses and their dedicated viewfinders, I don't really need the rangefinder as I normally use hyperfocal, this set up makes for a very light and easy to use camera while out on the hills, anyone else use 1Fs Gs or Cs? earleygallery Posted January 23, 2008 Share #2 Posted January 23, 2008 Hi, Welcome to the forum. I use a 25 CV on my lllf (as well as a 5cm Elmar or Summar). I would imagine your lenses/viewfinders work particularly well with the lf. In fact my local dealer has a lf for sale at the moment...... Look forward to seeing some of your photos. luigi bertolotti Posted January 23, 2008 Share #3 Posted January 23, 2008 Welcome to the forum, Ron !!! I haven't a If (have a IIIf like yours) , even if sometime I am tempted by one of that nice "no RFs" ... they are really so compact and polite...I have a IIIc also and maybe one day could think of an exchange. But in this forum surely there is someone who uses it... wait and see... and enjoy the forum !
Dr. No Posted January 23, 2008 Share #4 Posted January 23, 2008 talking about non-RF, I like my Leica Standard. The Viewfinder ist great. yours NO
Lichtmaler Posted January 24, 2008 Share #5 Posted January 24, 2008 Hi Ron, i have a If, I had inherit it from my Grandfather! But I don't often use the If and I have only the Elmar 3,5/5cm with viewfinder. It makes a lot of fun to estimate the Distance. But for determine the Exposure time, I use a Gossen digital. Guest rontr6 Posted January 24, 2008 Share #6 Posted January 24, 2008 Hi Folks, thanks for the welcome, I've got a 50 f3.5 Elmar on the camera when it's in the cabinet because it looks the part but I've never actually used it:eek: No doubt I'll go back to the M2 this summer but the 1f has been a bit of good fun, I should really try and use the other two screw cameras as well instead of them gathering dust. I don't suppose this is the correct place to mention it but i also bought a D Lux 3 last spring, fantastic piece of equipment but it feels very fragile compared to the old Leicas, I wonder how long it will last? bobs Posted January 29, 2008 Share #7 Posted January 29, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ron I purchased a 1F brand new in 1955 in Melbourne with a 50mm Dalmeyer (English, I believe) f2 lens with the optical finder on top. Distance was not a problem as most shots were 2 - 4 metres and "Zone" focussed. (Street Photogaphs) I only used it for about three months, possibly 600 - 700 films, before it was stolen but I have fond memories of it. The 50mm Elmar was not available in Melbourne at the time and I needed it for work, hence the foreign lens
