michali Posted January 22, 2008 Share #1 Posted January 22, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) M8 ELMAR90mm f5.6 @ ISO320 These rather intimidating looking chaps were hanging out on the edge of the herd. Other than breeding, their other role is to protect the buffalo herd from lions (see Big Boss & Big Boss continued....). The African buffalo along with the black rhino are probably the most dangerous animals to bump into when walking, They are totally unpredictable. stuny Posted January 22, 2008 Share #3 Posted January 22, 2008 Mike - Superb shot, and yes, they are very dangerous. More people are injured and killed by cape buffalo than any other African animal.
Marquinius Posted January 22, 2008 Share #4 Posted January 22, 2008 Mike, Perfect shot and this one sure is playing the part of sentinel. Just returned from Vietnam (just holidays) and was told many times that (even their) "waterboo" is really unpredictable. Marco PS: I'm really only scared of the small creepy crawlers you can't see. These guys just impress me enough to stay well away.

USHELDON Posted January 24, 2008 Share #7 Posted January 24, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Great pic Mike. I love the contrast of their dark bodies in the lush, green grass. The closest one looks as if he has a bit of a tattered ear. They really are tough old boys. Sheldon
