If you could choose only 1 lens for the M8?

Hi Volkel,

My choice for the lux35 asph is not because I don't like the tri-elmar, I must admit I don't like it, I love it.

The question was: what single lens!

Then I'm harsh, no tri-elmar, to slow for unavailable light photography.

During daytime the 37/47/66 fullframe equivalent will be superb.

Happy the question was only meant hypothetical.

The best lens in the world - 50mm Summilux Asph becomes a 66mm crop lens. Hmmm.

Some say, miss out the 75mm & go straight to the 90mm to use a bigger multiplier for a slight tele.

How many would have bought a 66mm focal length for a film Leica M ? Not many.

How many will buy it just as an M8 kit lens ? Many ?

Come on Rollo, it's not all that bad.

I'll use the second best 66 mm on my M8, cron!

50 mm I've always considered a bit narrow as a standardlens, that'll become 47 mm.

You won't hear me complain about this new angle of view.

A 75 mm Is very usefull, all the time, though a bit narrow, that'll become 66 mm.

You won't he@^... bla-bla.

37 for 35, Big deal.

By the way, Salgado quite often uses a 60 mm on his R equipment, with film so the uncropped angle of view.

My favorite reportagelens, lux 35 asph, will become very different to work with. OK.

But I need f 1.4, the cron 28 therefore is no option. ( no budget either )

We'll all have to adapt, who knows what exiting things will occur using the new digi-M stuff.

HBC never cropped, I know we're trying to keep that good old Leica tradition alive.

But! Now there's no way out. Crop for 1.33 is now the new way to go.

Why, Leica has finally made the leap ahead. They broke the tradition.......

Digital and lenses with a new point of view.

"Wait to see what Leica unveil at Photokina as the new standard lens for the M8. There WILL be one introduced and it will be the perfect companion."

The standard is well covered with f1.4/f2

It's the semi-wide, 24mm at f1.4/f2 that's needed, IMHO.

I have a Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 lens. Do you think this is a great all-around lens for the M8? If not, what would your favorite lens be? Thanks!

You cant discuss at this time the quality of an objektive only by referring to the traditional technical informations - in this example the Summilux.

There ist not only to see the angle- you must see the result at the end of a workflow

Nothing else is to say at this time from a customer to an other customer.

Good luck:)
