It appears that you cannot toggle focus peaking on/off from the main menu system: a focus peaking switch appears in the list of options when you press one of the Fn buttons, but you cannot turn focus peaking on/off from the main menu system. Can someone confirm that it is indeed the case that the only way to turn focus peaking on/off is to assign the switch to one of the Fn buttons. And is also appears that you cannot adjust the intensity or color of focus peaking. Crazy!

I just updated my Q3's firmware to 4.0 and now have the red outlines of focus peeking. I also found that I cannot toggle focus peaking on/off from the main menu system.  Using Gemini, the AI tells me to look for focus assistant under focusing, under main menu, however, I am not finding this in my camera's menu system.

Anyone had success in changing this?
Thanks...

Create different Info Profiles and switch between them to turn peaking on and off.

One more reason not to rely on AI. It suggest the most stupid things without actually checking against facts.

For the time being, you have to create profiles with focus-peaking disabled.

To turn off focus peaking, go to Menu > Capture Assistants > Info Profile 1 > Settings > Focus Peaking > Off. That should remove it from both AF and Manual Focusing. It did on mine.

My Q3 28 was set to use focus peaking whenin manual focus. I had it this way for obvious reasons and for macro. Leica knows that people don't use peaking with auto focus and they ( or Panasonic) added the mistake to their firmware. Very disappointing outcome from a brand that proclaims to be producers of finely engineered products, but their software just like the M11 fails.

I'm note quite shure, whether this is new, but now I always see the red lines of focus peaking when I look at play at my fotos. Is there a way to shut this off?

Have you read the previous posts about Info Profiles?

Am I the only person who actually likes the focus peaking in AF, I find it rather useful especially when judging DOF in a scene, although I will admit it does take a bit of getting used to seeing the red lines when reviewing images in play.

However, I think that Leica have some work to do refining 'Focus Peaking' to give users more choice how it is implemented, in addition they need to look at adapting images taken in Portrait format to show correctly in play.

Overall a promising firmware upgrade for me.

A week ago I asked ChatGPT (with subscription) if it was possible to show the battery percentage numerically on a Q3. It confidently showed me how to do it 2 different ways! Of course there is NO way to do this... I told ChatGPT about it's mistake and the reply was (paraphrasing here..) Yes, you're right you can't display that on a Leica Q3 but many people have expressed a desire to Leica that it be included in a future update" and the included citations to different forum threads including the Leica User Forum. I then instructed ChatGPT going forward to use it's most exhaustive AI model when forming a response, it takes longer but gives better answers. Still, ChatGPT and other AI chatbots must ALWAYS be viewed skeptically and you should follow the original sources for confirmation.
