Leslie22 Posted 23 hours ago Share #1 Posted 23 hours ago Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi , for those who haven't noticed the Leica Content Credentials on the EV1 seem to create XMP sidecar files (I haven't seen one of those since the old days of the Canon D10 ??) I turned the content credentials OFF and back to normal , with no XMP's. The XMP's also seemed to slow the processing down. Anyway for what it's worth. Advertisement Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Hi Leslie22, Take a look here M EV1 and content credentials create XMP files . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
elmars Posted 21 hours ago Share #2 Posted 21 hours ago Lightroom does this automatically during import, not only with the M EV1, but with all Leicas with Content Credentials, if they are activated. I reported this to Leica because it bothers me to have two files for one image, but I haven't heard anything back yet. However, it is not actually a Leica problem, but rather an Adobe problem. Leslie22 Posted 19 hours ago Author Share #3 Posted 19 hours ago Yes I understand that it’s not a Leica problem. It’s NOT something I want , so I have turned Content credential OFF. I don’t need it and I certainly don’t want it at the price of an extra file with each image.
Ning Ning Posted 13 hours ago Share #4 Posted 13 hours ago If I remember correctly, LR only does this if you add CC to the file. If you choose the cloud option, it remains a single file and the xmp file is not created. I have CC enabled on my EV1 and “Publish to the Cloud” in LR, and I only have one file. SrMi Posted 12 hours ago Share #7 Posted 12 hours ago Advertisement (gone after registration) It does not create an extra XMP for me either (import to LrC 15.0.1). It may have done it with an earlier Adobe version. I have not noticed (yet) that post-processing is slower with CC on.
Leslie22 Posted 3 hours ago Author Share #8 Posted 3 hours ago Just to be clear , after more shooting this morning , Lightroom Classic 15.0.1 , Automatic write XMP check box OFF. Content Credentials OFF. Back to my normal with NO XMP sidecars. The only camera to cause this "problem" for me has been the EV1 with its content credentials. I know that many people would be quite happy to have the sidecar files , but it's not how I like to work, so all is now well with the world. (and I'm enjoying the EV1)

(and I'm enjoying the EV1) I have Content Credentials ON, Automatic write XMP OFF, and no XMP sidecars are being generated. I guess the problem was either an older LrC version or a catalog setting, but not M-EV1 or Content Credentials. If you turn on Content Credentials now, are you still seeing XMP sidecars with M-EV1 files?
Leslie22 Posted 1 hour ago Author Share #10 Posted 1 hour ago Just for you I did another test with Credentials turned on , the XMP files came back. Lightroom Classic latest version.

Lightroom Classic latest version. Thank you for checking. That is very strange, as it does not happen for me and others. I have checked that Content Credentials are in the raw file. Note that XMP will be generated if you apply "Save Metadata to File" (Command-S). That is independent of Content Credentials.

Leslie22 Posted 45 minutes ago Author Share #13 Posted 45 minutes ago I may not have mentioned earlier that I am using Mac Studio. To be frank the mystery has been cleared up after testing for me. Leave Content credentials turned OFF , and no more side cars. I am a little disappointed as I thought I'd leave them on although I have no critical need for them. bcaslis Posted 15 minutes ago Share #14 Posted 15 minutes ago I have write data to XMG files off in Lightroom Classic, content credentials on in the M EV1 and no sidecar XMP files at all.
