Summicron-SL 50 f/2 ASPH firmware

Hi everyone,
I recently got a Leica SL2-S with a Summicron-SL 50 f/2 ASPH. The camera is updated with the latest firmware 6.2.0 and the lens has firmware 2.0. Searching the official Leica website, I noticed that Leica has released firmware 4.1 (I don't know if it's for the APO version or for mine). I downloaded and installed it, but it says the lens already has this firmware.
Could someone please tell me what the latest firmware is for the lens?

From a quick look at the English Leica website, firmware 4.1 is for the SL601 (i.e. the original SL). Lens firmware is typically included with the camera firmware, not separately. When a new lens is launched, new camera firmware is usually launched to include it. As you say the latest SL2-S firmware is 6.2.0, so you should be OK. 

Can you provide the link to the actual page for which you give the screenshot? What it shows is confusing.

I just found this...firmware 4.1 is for Leica SL, which could cause problems with these lenses.

I think you are up to date for lenses and camera.
Avoid trying to update one camera with firmware intended for another! Though it should refuse to update, sometimes things can go wrong!

If the lens works properly what interest does the firmware version have? As said before the camera keeps track, no user input needed.

Since I'm new to the Leica world, I looked for information on how to update the various firmware, and that's all. The lens works fine, as does the camera. In any case, I always update when new firmware is released... if the various manufacturers release updates, it means there will be improvements and any bug fixes.😉

Good practice for camera firmware.  With the SL system, when you attach an SL lens to an updated camera, it will automatically prompt the user to start any required lens update, taking just seconds, without your having to find it on your own.

Not necessarily - it can mean the introduction of new bugs. If there is no need, don't update (apart from, in general, security updates) until you have seen the user reports on various Internet sources and read the update release notes to find out whether the update has any relevance for you.

It's logical that I don't update on the first day, I always wait a bit to see if any users might have problems.

I dowloaded and installed 4.1 lens firmware to all of my SL primes (21, 28, 50, 90). Thus far (haven't tested all of my lenses since installing) I've had no issues with doing so. Per the write-up on the Leica website, this fixed an issue with transmission of the correct aperture. I had searched for this solution because I was having the very issue this firmware purported to correct -- every image I took with my SL3 and a number of my SL primes had a shifted histogram with higher exposure than what was displayed in the EVF when I took the photo. See link below for a post on the topic.

I found the firmware by selecting SL System, then SL Lenses (not SL Cameras as was linked by someone above), and then firmware. Apparently firmware 4.1 is for APO lenses, mine is not APO.
