I have just found a lighter, easier to use and much, much cheaper lens cap alternative to the Leica original and to other options I have seen.  It is made of a slightly rubberised plastic and fits very well.  Losing one, at this price, is not a problem.

Let us know how well it works. It can be tricky to make it work well. As a reminder, 28mm and 43mm require different lens caps of that style.

I am happy with the OTect caps sold by Leica Miami.
