This is a very interesting and thought provoking discussion, but maybe such a camera would dilute sales of other Leica models, rather than add to the overall pot.  As @S Maclean points out, the current line up is already pretty comprehensive, with an degree of overlap, so maybe there is more of a need to fill gaps at the top end (S Medium Format if or when it comes) and the bottom end (a Panasonic collaboration for a new X).

Any new product must be driven by whether it adds to Leica's profitability.
