quiet.seattle Posted 21 hours ago Share #1 Posted 21 hours ago Advertisement (gone after registration) I've owned the Q3 43 since it was introduced and I use it daily. It is as advertised. Great camera. To help offset the purchase of the Q3 43 I sold my SL2-s and two Panasonic lenses. At the time it was a bittersweet parting: I found that I wasn't using the Sl2-s much and its weight was certainly a factor, but at the same time whenever I used it, when I clicked the shutter, I felt a certain joy, if you will, that no other camera has given me, including the Q3 43. But selling it was the practical thing to do. Well, today a used SL2 arrived in near perfect condition. At $2000 it seemed like a bargain (in Leica terms). I could have gone the SL2-s route but find that I'm liking the extra megapixels as one who crops regularly. I'm aware of the SL2 low-light issues but the Q3 43, which I've kept, covers that aspect. Tomorrow I receive a used Sigma 24-70mm DG DN Art ll lens to fit on the SL2. Can anyone who has used the SL2 with the Sigma 24-70 ll lens offer their experience?

PhotoCruiser Posted 9 hours ago Share #3 Posted 9 hours ago vor 11 Stunden schrieb quiet.seattle: I'm aware of the SL2 low-light issues First congratulations for your SL2, i bought mine this February used, but in absolute new condition but more expensive than yours. The SL2 has no particular low-light issue, it's just that the SL2-S (and other cameras) have less noise but less MP's I shoot always -1/3 or less and often at night or with high contrast so i need to pull up the shadows and don't encounter excessive noise between 100 and 6500 ISO. i can imagine noise issues shooting at pitch dark where more than 12K ISO is needed, but that is not very frequent using f/2 or less lenses and this is the reason why i have heavy, bulky but fast lenses. New software denoise functions do miracles to get rid of visible noise, LrC is already very good and some say that the denoise from the DxO PureRAW collection works considerable better. Enjoy your new camera and the new lens what i don't have but i am sure it's a great lens as all ART series ones. Chris
Photoworks Posted 2 hours ago Share #4 Posted 2 hours ago I have a few SL2 and they have been very good cameras for me for the last 5-6 years. The Sigma 24-70 works very well with it, it is a very popular standard zoom. I also use the Leica 24-90, and the Panasonic 24-60, all of them used in different environments. You can't go wrong with any of the latest art lenses from Sigma. the SL2 has more noise than a stacked sensor. But if you expose correctly, it works very well. and all the new softer can be used occasionally to suppress noise or enhance lens softness. I use DxO PureRaw because I get the cleanest images without any big Ai texture.

I use the SL3 and have a great 1.4 sharp lens, but for daily use, I mostly default to my sigma f2 primes. They are critically sharp, which is important for me, especially on 60mp, but the weight is a joy to use. The Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 ii is a fantastic lens, but just over my threshold for every day. Everyone is different though !!
PhotoCruiser Posted 1 hour ago Share #6 Posted 1 hour ago That is one reason that my Q2 and the Sl2 have thumb grips and hand straps instead of neck straps and i carry a photo bag where the camera is when not in my hand. My Sigma 28mm 1.4 and the 14mm 1.8 are considerable heavier than the 24-70 and i can deal with that due i store them if not in use. But that's me Chris
