PeterGA Posted Sunday at 10:31 PM Share #21 Posted Sunday at 10:31 PM (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) The last frontier for Leica to explore is a lightweight package -the CL had them perfectly positioned in this space - alas they decided to shelve the project - maybe they dont like competing with Sony/Fuji in that space. I want less weight these days less is more. Still my CL is still working well my only concern being as mentioned above - batteries. Batteries were the weak link in Fuji GFX - during Covid all three f my batteries died because I didn't charge them for a year - so Now I top up batteries even if they havent been used to keep them 'alive'...three different battery 'systems for three different bodies- stuff lying around the floor of my study spaghetti lines of impending doom reminding me of impermanence - unasked for advice. camera bodies and too many lenses just sitting there - open questions about why why why...I actually used my SL2 yesterday to make some happy snaps at a family gathering using the 24-90...clean detail popping out when processing them for distribution that evening....but lacking the detail of the X2D - anitehr addiction to add to the list - fancy being disappointed with 50 megapixels compared to 100 - and on the wall sits a 2x3 meter shot made with a 33 megapixel back on an Alpa back in the day - all the detail anyone could ask for for a real world viewing distance at 2+ meters away ...the difference between screen views and pixel peeping and printed and hung reality.... I dont want to ever buy a printer again and i cant be bothered using external printers because I ma lazy - I am wondering if I might just buy one of those instax printers and print little cards and stick them into an album -- how many megapixels do we need for that?😂 Edited Sunday at 10:33 PM by PeterGA
Advertisement Posted Sunday at 10:31 PM Posted Sunday at 10:31 PM Hi PeterGA, Take a look here End of CL journey. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
TL3 Posted yesterday at 02:24 AM Share #22 Posted yesterday at 02:24 AM Sad that happened, I loved the CL so much after buying it that I picked up a TL2 shortly after as backup camera in the case of catastrophic failure. But then again I also had a dust covered TL anyway 😅
IkarusJohn Posted yesterday at 03:20 AM Share #23 Posted yesterday at 03:20 AM I’ve been using my TL2 with M lenses - particularly the 28 Summaron. Having to use the EVF rather defeats the purpose of having a compact camera. So, I purchased two Sigma contemporary lenses (the 24 and 45) to make a small package. Not as small as I would like, but better image quality than a pancake, and they are full frame, so I can use them with my SL if I need to. Time will tell if this was another dumb idea …
TL3 Posted 16 hours ago Share #24 Posted 16 hours ago Can’t be too dumb, you can use on the SL anyway. Meanwhile I’m at risk of having a bunch of orphaned TL lenses without a small body to mount them on.
elambo Posted 9 hours ago Share #25 Posted 9 hours ago I've traveled heavily into the topic of CL retirement this past month, in a different thread. I started at 'I gotta seriously consider selling this puppy before it's fully obsolete' but settled into 'it probably *won't* fail while in my possession, and it's still an excellent camera for me, so why sweat it?' If the day comes that it requires service I'll lose sleep then. For now, it's getting good use. And lord knows I've tried -- really tried -- four or five times to replace it. Your situation is different because you need service. I'd be a bit more peeved it that were the case.
jaapv Posted 8 hours ago Author Share #26 Posted 8 hours ago As I said, I’ll keep it for M lenses and probably sell off the 55-135. It gets very little to no use anyway. The 18-56 will live on the TL.
