Hello

I'm looking to make a bulk purchase of DIY drying clips.   Something like these attached pics.

Do you think these kind of things will all work fine, or are there some reasons not to buy these cheapies, that I might not have considered ?

My drying cabinet is 2m high so plenty of room for long clips

Thanks !

Great likelihood the film will twist.

I'm using the stainless steel metal clips from Firstcall.https://firstcall-photographic.co.uk/products/firstcall-film-clips-stainless-steel-set-of-2?_pos=4&_psq=clips&_ss=e&_v=1.0

These have a broader hook, so don't twist on the top rail. Also a broad clamp and pins that pierce the film, so no slip and even pressure; one of the pair is weighted preventing curling.

I also use the wider clips much like shown in this link to reduce curl and hold securely, as I squeegee the film when first hung, and the penetrating pins hold it well. I've had mine since the 1960s or so and hope to find a source for more.

@TomB_tx @Smudgerer thanks for the heads up on the wider clips. I think they will be the way to go for 120 and when squeegee-ing (which I do for 250D for remjet removal)

I've been using Ikea curtain hangers ("RIKTIG"), and one of their curtain wires to hold them. It doesn't introduce any extra curl, but you'll want to use a clothespin to weigh-down the bottom for roll film (no need to do that for sheet film).

Thanks will check these out also

I use old Kodak double ended clips for the top end and Durst clips for the bottom.
