Hi, friends.

New owner of an M3 here and have run into something that's probably a novice issue but I can't seem to find anything about it online.
The body is recently CLA'd and should be in perfect working order.

I just received the body, unlatched the bottom plate to understand the loading process but when I go to reattach and latch the plate, it does not want to latch.
The plate is flush and seated properly on the flat-topped circle peg. It looks like inside the camera there is a little tab that might be restricting the turning of the latch - I don't know that for sure, it's just an ignorant person noticing things. Without the plate on the bottom of the camera the latch turns smoothly and freely.

Am I missing some part of the process in reattaching the plate?

Thanks in advance

When you replace the bottom plate ensure the open/closed (auf/zu) latch is fully turned to the open position. Once the plate is in position, the latch should fully tighten and lock the plate into position. You might want to review the procedure in the user manual.

The tab is what the locking plate engages with to lock the bottom plate on the camera. The locking plate (the circular pressed black plate of the locking mechanism) has a section removed from its circumference and when you put the bottom plate on the tab fits in this gap, then as you turn the lock the plate slides over the tab for a friction fit. It should be a tight fit so try pressing the bottom plate down harder while turning the lock.
