andybarton Posted Sunday at 02:54 PM Share #1 Posted Sunday at 02:54 PM Advertisement (gone after registration) Last night in Palma, the attendees voted on the location for the next Challenge and it was agreed that Edinburgh would be the location. Having been one of the two locations tied for first place when voting was done in Nice, this seems an equitable and excellent choice. The Challenge will be on Saturday 17th October, with details to follow, of course. Thanks! 6

DenverSteve Posted Wednesday at 06:12 AM Share #4 Posted Wednesday at 06:12 AM Andy, Can you please explain this One Challenge. I did a search but came up empty. What's the purpose? How long does this go on? One day, two, three...... What is done on and/or during this One Challenge? Thanks, Steve
DigitalHeMan Posted Wednesday at 07:01 AM Share #5 Posted Wednesday at 07:01 AM Hi @DenverSteve The LeicaOne challenge has been going on for more than 20 years now - basically an informal get together in a different place each year, with a 2 hour 'One Challenge' on the Saturday afternoon. During this time, participants announce their chosen camera, focal length and film (if shooting analog) and then have 2 hours to take a maximum of 36 photos, after which one will be submitted to be judged by other forum members. I've pasted the link below for the Palma One Challenge which took place this last weekend. This explains the challenge in more detail https://www.l-camera-forum.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=1080967&key=36394957725a669f19e8b341f74e13de There's also a section on the forum where you can review previous challenge entries, although the events for the past couple of years haven't been moved here (yet) https://www.l-camera-forum.com/forum/93-leica-one-challenge/
lanetomlane Posted Wednesday at 01:29 PM Share #6 Posted Wednesday at 01:29 PM Wonderful, the 17th October next year will be our 56th Wedding Anniversary so having the Challenge on that date will save me the cost of a celebratory dinner. Good decision Andy. 3

Good decision Andy. Tom, do tell Eileen from Marilyn and myself that this is the perfect justification for an even more luxurious (and expensive) dinner on another occasion, since you will both be missing out on a private celebration on the day itself! If we are able to be in Edinburgh (ad we hope so) then we owe you at least one celebratory drink.

PS: If you are in Edinburgh for a day or two either side of the Challenge, both Andy and I would recommend Tom Kitchin's restaurant (The Kitchen) an easy tram ride to Leith. Not cheap, but very sound value indeed for a Michelin starred restaurant. Book well ahead! Edited yesterday at 11:03 AM by masjah
andybarton Posted yesterday at 12:17 PM Author Share #11 Posted yesterday at 12:17 PM We will certainly try to go there when we are in the city. We can also highly recommend The Shore bar and restaurant nearby. There isn't a single visit to Edinburgh, going back about 20 years, where I haven't eaten at The Shore.
