Advertisement Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Hi robsteve, Take a look here C1 support of DNG files produced by Vuescan. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
dritz Posted January 14, 2008 Author Share #22 Posted January 14, 2008 The DNG option appears when you select "RAW" as an output file in the output tab. Thanks for the suggestion of running a VueScan DNG through the Adobe DNG converter. Never thought of that but will give it a try at home.

robsteve Posted January 15, 2008 Share #24 Posted January 15, 2008 Andy: This raw option may be scanner specific, such as for Nikon scanners that offer the RAW NEF scan. Johan's scanner may not be a Nikon or a brand that supports raw scanning. Note that Johan's options do not include RAW.

erl Posted April 25, 2009 Share #27 Posted April 25, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Regrettably, my experience is that C1 will not see or open VueScan created DNG's. Recently, I had occasion to scan a film job (theatrical) that I shot about 10 years ago. Extremely difficult lighting (more so than usual for theatre) and I scanned the film as RAW DNG's. My only choice for PP was to use PS3 RAW Converter to open and manipulate. Then to save as TIFFS. The RAW controls gave me far greater flexibility than I could have acheived with PP directly from TIFF scans. The client was blown away by the (10 year) improvement in the images. The latest Ver 4.7 Pro of C1 allows equal controls of both tiffs & jpegs that can be applied to RAW files. I think I shall employ this feature for future 'recovery' jobs on film images. Of course the beauty of RAW still remains that new devepoments in processors can always be "retro fitted" to existing RAW images.
