A couple of months ago, while photographing in the Pyrenees for a book about the mountains of the Basque Country, I had a terrible accident with my Leica S 007. It slipped off the tripod and fell onto the tarmac. This was the result:

I feared it would be beyond repair, but in Wetzlar, for a price that was almost higher than what I paid for it, they restored it to working order. I have been able to enjoy it again. Fortunately, the lens that was mounted on it, the 180 mm, only suffered a broken lens hood. I am waiting to get a new one. I have already resumed taking photographs for my new book.

It is evident that there are setbacks in life.

My camera slip / tripod adventure was with a non S but traumatic nonetheless.  I was using the quick release clamp as pictured. I could not see that the plate was not fully seated as the moving part of the clamp was under / in front of the camera. I even tested that the camera was secure before stepping away from it. Love the head and definitely user error. I now use the quick release clamp with the knob facing me so I have a better view of the closure. I prefer the knob to a lever but that's just personal preference.

I'm glad Leica was able to repair your camera. I am amazed they did it so quickly.
