Kiwimac Posted Friday at 11:59 PM Share #1 Posted Friday at 11:59 PM Advertisement (gone after registration) Is there a way to have the camera default to a particular User Profile from being switched on? I find the fact that adjusting anything effectively switched to a different profile a bit irritating because next time you turn it on it will still be there instead of reverting to whatever your default profile is. Advertisement Posted Friday at 11:59 PM Posted Friday at 11:59 PM Hi Kiwimac, Take a look here M11-P menu/settings User Profile question. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted Saturday at 02:35 AM Share #2 Posted Saturday at 02:35 AM I have no experience with the M11-P but my basic M11 starts on the user profile i was using before the camera shuts off. That suits me fine, so I haven't looked into other possibilities sorry.
Chris W Posted Saturday at 08:07 AM Share #3 Posted Saturday at 08:07 AM ^^ This ^^ I have user profile 1 as my main customised set up. If you look at the menu it appears as if the camera has gone back to default, but in reality, every time I turn it on it is using all my preferred settings, which is what I have saved as User 1. Same with 'P', so try and remember to put it in the Profile you want it to open with before switching off. If you always leave it in timed-off mode it will restart with what it last used.
jgeenen Posted Saturday at 09:21 AM Share #5 Posted Saturday at 09:21 AM I have a different experience: when I turn on my M11 (non P), it never automatically reverts to profile 1 (or any other) but uses the same settings of my last session. I prefer this implementation otherwise I would have to recreate any individual setting during a shooting after each power-off.
Kiwimac Posted Saturday at 11:43 AM Author Share #6 Posted Saturday at 11:43 AM (edited) As far as I can tell, if I have it set to User 1 then change, say, the metering method to spot then turn it off or let it turn itself off, rather than restarting in User 1 with the metering method set at say centre weighted, it will start set to spot. It would be useful if you could set it to restart in the settings that are saved in a particular Profile. ie a menu item - Starting Profile: Last Used or User Profile 1,2,3,4 etc. Edited Saturday at 11:44 AM by Kiwimac

Because you changed the settings of profile 1 without saving them to another profile i guess. The least modification is enough.

OP has opposite view to you and wants it to revert to a set Profile.
