LocalHero1953 Posted yesterday at 12:25 PM Share #1 Posted yesterday at 12:25 PM (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I downloaded the new Topaz Photo this morning, and uninstalled the old Photo AI. I have no immediate need to use it. Has anyone tried it? Any significant differences? Edited yesterday at 12:26 PM by LocalHero1953
Advertisement Posted yesterday at 12:25 PM Posted yesterday at 12:25 PM Hi LocalHero1953, Take a look here Topaz Studio / Photo - anyone tried it?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted yesterday at 12:27 PM Share #2 Posted yesterday at 12:27 PM I tried it - to me it was not worth the money.

M11 for me Posted 13 hours ago Share #5 Posted 13 hours ago What's then the alternative? Do you use Lightroom Classic exclusively? I must say that I used Topaz products a while ago but not anymore since Adobe added great AI functions.
LocalHero1953 Posted 11 hours ago Author Share #6 Posted 11 hours ago (edited) I use Topaz only for sharpening, which it does better than Adobe, but only for difficult images, not all of them. I guess Adobe will eventually up its sharpening game to match its Denoise AI, and then I'd drop Topaz. At the moment I can't do without it for recovering images where I've screwed up the focus (typically theatre shots where I've focused correctly, but the depth of field is too shallow to get every face sharp that should be sharp) Edited 11 hours ago by LocalHero1953

Just visited your formidable website and see what you mean.
LocalHero1953 Posted 11 hours ago Author Share #8 Posted 11 hours ago A bit more reading around. It seems there is little or no difference between the two versions, but the new version will become the subscription version, while the old one will remain as a perpetual licence with no updates. My recollection was wrong: I don't have a subscription, but bought my perpetual version last October. I have until October to decide if I want to revert to the old version - which I will do: it's good enough for my needs, and I'm sure Adobe will improve its sharpening.
