stuny Posted January 11, 2008 Share #1 Posted January 11, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) In spite of desert conditions we seemed to see oryx and springbok virtually everywhere in Namibia. It’s amusing to see them run since they will jump straight up into the air (called panging) to demonstrate to any predators around that they are healthy and too difficult to chase down. Plenty more in the Namibia photo galleries on our site.

Tony C. Posted January 12, 2008 Share #7 Posted January 12, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks Stuart; that's a very good image. I happen to have a real soft spot for Springbok, precisely because I love to watch them pronk! The word you used is an interesting variation on the (presumably) South African equivalent "pronking". It's also called "stotting", from what I understand. Regards, Tony C.

albert Posted January 12, 2008 Share #10 Posted January 12, 2008 Stuart, I like this very much. It caused me to appreciate the harmony between the colors and shadows on the animal with the colors and shadows on the terrain. Al

stuny Posted January 13, 2008 Author Share #12 Posted January 13, 2008 Tony - Thank you, and if my version of the word is South African, it is purely chance. Geniuses such as ourselves cannot be bothered with such trivialities as spelling. Besides, I can always blame my keyboard. Thank you for the proper word, which I had forgotten and thought I recalled. Peter, Ivan, Al & Dan - Thank you.

psquared Posted January 24, 2008 Share #15 Posted January 24, 2008 Stuart, Excellent. I like how the coat (the dark parts anyway) almost blends in with the rust-colored rocks. Peter
