Just about to pick up one of these. One one hand thinking I am mad and should get used.

On the other hand used is not so cheap, it is 50% of the price, and I get a brass top, anti-glare VF and a guarantee.

Would love to see other's M6 reissue, how you accessorise and any lovely scratches or scrapes :D

Bought mine new, last week - sealed. Exposure counter didn't reset, but dealer fixed the problem in no time. Still waiting for the first negatives (ektachrome), very curious whether I got the exposure right (and yes, whether there are any scratches to the negs ...)

I'm debating saving up and getting 1 when I retire 2027. I have 2 M6 Classics now that I bought for the same price as 1 new 1 and had DAG CLA them. I tell myself that should due me but that little voice in my head says "new Leica smell" 😁

And don't say get a M11, digital Leica's don't interest me at all. I'll get a mirrorless Nikon to replace my D7500 and D300s first

The same "frame-counter-reset" problem recently happened to my reissue M6. Did the dealer have to send it for service or were they able to do the repair in-house? It sounds like it was an easy fix. I'm hoping to find a solution near to where I live.

I've had my reissue two years, my first range finder and my only expensive camera. It's lovely in the hand, and I'm taking more pictures than ever before.  I've bought lenses instead of watches as my treats to myself, so it's a lot cheaper. The only issue I have is that the battery runs out faster than other cameras I've had. I use a light meter app on my phone which works fine, and I've learned not to chase indicated "correct" exposure for every shot.

It's quite tough. I've dropped it on my boot and sent it slithering along the pavement. Slight brass abrasion through the black paint, but no other adverse effect.

How well did it hold up when dropped n slithered? The abrasion might be painful to see but sandpaper it lol
focusing still fine?

Function is unaffected. Teeniest bit of abrasion, really. I remember picking it up off the pavement and consoling myself, "These have been through warzones and been fine!"

In England there's a tradition in schools of scuffing up a boy's new shoes. His friends do this to help him feel less precious about his new kit.

I guess this camera drop served the same function. Like getting the Porsche keyed. Painful but harmless.

I’ve found that to combat the new issue temptation, I go to KEH.com in Atlanta, Ga.

i can buy an excellent, or even like new M6 for $3500-$3800 US and for $400 get a 4 year warranty that covers everything- with zero $ deductible! I fell full force on one of my M6 50 mm Summilux combos- hard! All was fine- except the lens was still, just a bit to focus. Sent it in for repair- came back perfect - no charge to me!
$6000 for a 2 year warranty, or around $4000 with a 4 year warranty!!!

Well, I'm in the same boat with regards to "Classic" vs "Re-issue" M6 given the price difference of about 1800-2000 EUR (both used, but the "Classic" are quite worn-out at this price difference). And there is always the "Titanium" version in-between...

Last time I had to do this exercise was when deciding between M240-P and M10-P, and I chose the M240-P and bought the 50 Summilux ASPH with the saved money.

I would be patient and keep looking at online sales sites in the EUR for a nice condition "Classic" if I were you. When I decided to get a M6 this year I did that, shopped around the used sales sites here in the US.

That's how I found the 1st M6 Classic back in March, $3113 plus tax ($3315 USD total) from KEH and it was in great shape. 3-4 weeks later I saw a "Like New" Classic listed at MPB USA for $2700 plus tax and jumped on that just because at that price I can always sell it down the road and make money off it even factoring in the $590 DAG overhaul I think I could pass on to the buyer if I wanted (it ain't for sale 😁)

I would also stick with getting the "Classic" over the "TTL" model for 1 reason if buying used. Amsterdam Camera Repair developed the replacement circuit boards for the Classic. The TTL model no one has those so if on the off chance you have a issue with a "Classic's: metering board it can be fixed now, a TTL your SOL on right now.

I could be tempted in the spring with the "Titanium" model Classic if I saw one in nice shape and had the extra money. There's 1 listed at MPB US right now in "good" condition at $2800 USD that if I hadn't just bought a M5 for $2K USD I would grab

I recently purchased new.  I believe that the newer viewfinder makes this attractive, but you might also consider a used M-A with a Kek meter, or a used MP.

Yes, I was considering the pro's for the re-issue as the better EVF (flare-free) and brass top/bottom plates, and the cons' as price and the film scratching issue.

For the "Classic" pro's would be the price and the price :), while the cons' I have considered are the EVF and the possible corosion of the top/bottom plates (I guess this is applicable only to the silver and titanium versions). The well used black chrome bodies I have seen so far do look quite unappealing, but the price is quite attractive.

As for the M-A, I want a metered camera body alongside my M3. The MP's that I've seen are priced in the same range, or slightly above the M6 re-issue, and having the M3 camera already, I am curious about an M6 layout.

Yes, MPB and Classic-Leica-Store are my main markets I am looking at, plus the big auction site (if I find a dealer that offers a 12 months warranty). Then I am very tempted by a Titanium version, to be honest.

I like the look of the Titanium. I don't really need another Leica M body, I've the 2 M6 "Classic's" and 3 M5's (1 I just bought and is at DAG for service and a battery update) but I could be tempted early spring when I get a profit sharing check from work.

I kinda of wish Leica would do a chrome 2022 M6, I like the look (my Classic's are both chrome) and have thought about getting the MP instead if I do talk myself into a new 1. I don't need 1......but figure it'll be a retirement gift to myself 2027 if I do get 1

It looks like I have scored a Titan version. Just sent in the payment. Now I need to buy a battery, I guess. I think I have seen somewhere a recommendation of Lithium vs ??

Then I need to move to the M6 Classic thread 🙃

Cool. Post pictures when you get it
