Kristofferpaulsen Posted September 2 Share #1 Posted September 2 Advertisement (gone after registration) So I had to pick up a widezoom recently for a job, and the only brick and mortar store with one in stock was Camera Exchange in Melbourne, and it was second hand stock. While I was in there, I tried the 135mm Sigma.. I've previously been suspicious of Sigma lenses after some poor focussing and colour experiences in the past, but these two were stunning, especially for the money. I ended up with both the 16-28 and the 135, and I'm stunned at how good they are, for a total of $2k Australian. What surprised me the most, was the MFD on the 135.. I had it in my head that it'd be over a meter, but it's actually quite close, and is unexpectedly excellent for product work (it focus breathes a bit, which is a pain for focus stacking, but other than that). The 16-28, while not an aluminium Leica, but a polycarbonate, is exceptional for the price.. 1/10th the price of the leica alternative, and absolutely tiny. A few images from the 135.. Sandokan Posted September 2 Share #2 Posted September 2 The 135 looks great, but whats the weight and bokeh like?
harbelot Posted September 3 Share #3 Posted September 3 Impressive indeed, Sigma is a great alternative today.
Toni-Mang Posted September 3 Share #4 Posted September 3 The 135 is a brick, but it is outstanding good, specially considering the used price. It is able to give you a very special look and bokeh, if you go closed to the subject. The 105 might be at least as good...but i have only the 135. adan Posted September 3 Share #6 Posted September 3 Yep - Sigma has come a long way since the 1970s-80s, when they were in the "cheap bottom layer" of third-party lens (and occasionally camera) makers. 👍 https://thisweekslens.wordpress.com/2018/08/28/the-sigma-xq-39-80mm-mini-zoom-3-in-1-watch-me-change-my-mind-mid-review/
