Hi! I used one of my friend’s Q2 few months ago and loved the ergonomics, form factor and the files. Currently I’m using Sony A7 IV + 24-70mm lens. Though Sony does what it is good at but I’m not motivated these days to carry the camera plus big lens setup for family travel. So, I’m planning to get a EDC so shortlisted few of the cameras in the market like Fujifilm X100VI or used Leica Q2($3300)

I know that I’m posting in the Leica group so the voting will be in favour of Q2 but let know your thoughts on the camera!
TIA!

The Leica will give better files and be nicer to use but a bit bigger and heavier.

Q2 for me.

You will be having a different zoom experience. The Leica is designed to zoom digitally through cropping, not optically like a zoom lens. The consequence is that you lose resolution and DOF as you “zoom” (crop) in. That is no problem at all in most cases as both resolution and DOF are linked to magnification. The larger you print, the less you can crop in. For normal use you can keep about 50-70 mm as a limit on the Q2, for social media even more. But it depends on the subject as well. I would not recommend this camera for large prints from severe crops

in real life Q2 users are more than happy with the results within this limitation and given your intended use you could well be one of them.

The Q2 is more intentional and less of an EDC camera than any X100, meaning that it will never disappear in your bag as it is bulkier and heavier. Saying that, I cannot think of a better camera than a Q2(3) to have around my neck for capturing my daily life, special moments and travelling. Partly due to the form factor but not only,  the quality and versatility of that lens is outstanding; macro, landscapes, portraits, capable AF or convincing manual focus, lens stabilisation, weather sealing, leaf shutter (silent operation). Above all, it is not just a convenient camera, the quality of the images is truly excellent and thats what matters the most.

Gotta say you've summed it up very well.

I have the original Q, which for me needs is more than adequate.  Previous to that I had three different incarnations of the X100 series, starting with the original.  It is actually a very good camera...and if I hadn't had a chance to try out the Q for an extended period five years ago I'd probably still be Fuji user.

But I'm not.  As stated the way the Q manual focuses...it's macro capability and just the way Leica firmware handles color rendition and such...as good as the Fuji's were, the Q (IMO) is superior.

As @PluckinTones wrote! I had the Q2 and now have the Q3 43. It's my camera for family, social & travel, and every casual shot where I want to be able to edit the result (smartphone images look good as long as you don't try to do too much with the files). It's also my back up to the SL2-S for plays and music performance where I want to be discreet.

I have used both the Q2 and X100VI. The Fuji images just don't have the "bite" that Q2 files have. So long as you don't compare it is fine. The moment you compare it is game over. YMMV, etc.

Edit: Surprisingly, a compact camera that does come close to Q2 in overall imaging quality is the Ricoh GRIIIX (not the GRIII). Different focal length, small battery and no EVF etc, but something to consider and try out. And truly pocketable. It does have a very effective IBIS.

I used a Q (1) at the San Francisco Leica store soon after it came out.  I was blown away.  At the time I was using a Nikon D600 or D750.  I would have bought it but for two things.  At the time money was an object, and at 28mm / 24MP, I thought I would not like cropping it too much and I do like the 50-100mm range.  So, I passed, but the few images I was able to take wandering around outside the store were some of the best I had ever taken.  It was a fun camera.  Then the Q2 came out at 48MP.  That was the selling point.  I could crop more and I could afford it.  I bought it and loved it.  So much fun.  I was so enthused to use a Leica again.  I have a film R8 that does not see much use, but did for many years.  My only real complaint was the low light performance and I do take a lot of photos in unusual and challenging lighting situations.  But I was very happy.  Then the Q3.  60MP was not the selling point as there is not that much difference, but the new sensor was suppose to have better performance in challenging lighting.  It does, but not as good as my Nikons.  But I sold my Q2 to a friend and got the Q3 and am happy.

I have never had so much fun using a camera before.  I love the simple menus, the amazing lens, the fantastic color.  So, my advise is to bite the bullet and get one (q2 or q3) and have fun taking amazing photos.

The Q2 is a awesome camera for many reasons, the biggest one is that she is completely sealed what makes her a very good option as travel camera.
Not sure if the Q3 is that much better than the Q2, for me it's not worth to upgrade from my Q2 to the Q3 but for others it is.

You should first verify if sensor replacement is still same cost and depending on the cost of the camera itself you can take your decision. If you know the seller well and trust him you may get a bargain, if you don't know the seller i would be very cautious.
Check also the Leica Store offers for used ones, you may find one ready to use and not that more expensive than repairing the one you are writing of.

I bought my SL2 in brand new conditions for half of price as previous owner did not used her and as soon the SL3 came out traded her for a SL3.
Not uncommon in Switzerland but probably uncommon in other countries.

Not worth it. Unless it is $200 or less which will bring your total to $3,000.
