Our city has the largest producer-only farmers' Market in the US, with about 120 vendors and on a nice day like today about 15,000 shoppers. It drives me crazy to get stuck in the very slow moving crowd, so I generally make an early trip around 6:45 AM to do most of my buying, then again about three hours later to get shots of the crowds and busy vendor stands. The first three shots below are the early ones from today. The others were from the second trip.

A terrific set.  The two best farmer's markets I've been to are at the ferry building in San Francisco, and in Union Square in Manhattan.  Our most recent visit to Union Square was late morning 8 days ago, and moving through the crowds was most annoying.  Similarly, unless you go to the High Line Park in Manhattan before 9:00 AM the crowds are far too dense for anything other than people watching.
