This is one of my favorite stretches along a 25 mile bike trail that goes through the west side of my city, then out through the countryside and finally back into town along a lake shore path. I encountered the goat herd (2nd photo) about 3 miles beyond where the first shot was taken.

Very nice.  It looks like a rather nice loop.  You're lucky that the herd didn't include any Wisconsin saber-toothed goats, who are wll known to be aggressive in late summer.

They don't worry me. It's the hammer-head Holstein cows that you really need to avoid. They've been known to chase down black bears.
