Strmbrg Posted August 20 Share #1 Posted August 20 Advertisement (gone after registration) Do you use the display, external EVF, external OVF or just guess? I bought a 21mm lens and am not quite happy with either the display or the 020 EVF.
Advertisement Posted August 20 Posted August 20 Hi Strmbrg, Take a look here Framing with wide lenses. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jankap Posted August 20 Share #2 Posted August 20 (edited) Guessing is nonsense, of course. I use the LCD display for all my lenses, (from 15mm to 500mm). Some occasions with an OVF. My iPhone does not offer a rangefinder either.🫠 Edited August 20 by jankap
burchyk Posted August 20 Share #3 Posted August 20 The answer is "yes" :) Though mostly shooting film cameras these days. When the subject is static I use an external OVF with the 21mm. But in a highly dynamic situation on the street there is often no time for a peek even. Other cases where I'm hesitant to use a viewfinder is to avoid drawing attention and affecting the subject by my presence more than necessary. I find that putting a camera to my face tends to "break the stealth" much more often than doing otherwise.
Ernstk Posted August 20 Share #4 Posted August 20 I use a 21mm Elmarit on my M-P 240. I don't bother with an external viewfinder. You can learn quite quickly to guess what the field of view is with surprising accuracy. Ernst
Topsy Posted August 20 Share #5 Posted August 20 I use the 21mm VF with my 21mm Elmarit-M.
Thorfinn Posted August 20 Share #6 Posted August 20 (edited) on closeups I just guess. Architecture: I typically use the evf or screen to get the line accurate. Architecture used to be quite stationary, somthere is plenty of time. On a Laizy-Daisy day I guess an clean the lines in post. mujk Posted August 20 Share #7 Posted August 20 Advertisement (gone after registration) I purchased the external EVF (Viso 020) with the intention to use it with the 21 SEM. In practice I have found it often more convenient to do initial framing, focusing and checking of exposure using the OVF and then final framing using the LCD. Strmbrg Posted August 22 Author Share #10 Posted August 22 (edited) I bought this finder, Fujifilm 21/28mm. (150 € new.) It works well, is bright and sits very snug. One isssue is that my nose touches the rangefinder ocular and greases it. Nothing to blame this very finder for. Easiest way to solve that, is to use my left eye instead. Or put some tape on the damned nose. 🙂👍 Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members!
