I love the tilt display of my Q3 for street photography. It gives me a cool perspective and people don't realize that I'm shooting.

I thought having a mirror could be an option. As I own a 3D printer and I am experienced with Autodesk Fusion 360 I used an hour or two to design a prototype and see if that works.

It actually does. I found cheap mirror (plastic) that are better than expected (6 EUR, get 50 of them). The only question was: how to attach it to the camera. The solution was a 10mm diameter Neodym magnet with a 3mm hole and 3mm height (also from Amazon. The magnet clicks on the tripod thread. Not too shabby.

Of course it is a mirror and all movements to aim at the subject must be reversed. It is a bit awkward but it works.

Here are some more pics of the contraption:

I can, of course share the STL if anyone is interested.

Let me know your thoughts.

Cheers Alexander

Thank you, @jankap.

I did my noon stroll to avoid insanity working from home all day and tested my new mirror.

This is almost ground level. No way to take this shot unless lying on the belly. The idea of this exercise was to test it out. It worked beautifully.

One thing I noticed earlier was that the mirror has severe scratches after a day only that limits its use. I had a protective cover for an old smartphone in my box. I applied it to a new mirror before gluing it to the frame. Now the mirror is perfectly protected, clean and no scratches. This is really useful.

Excellent idea!! For a moment it reminded me of my youth... when I played Prince of Persia and at a certain level the screen would invert and I had to use a mirror to see the normal image and advance to the next level!!! Thanks for sharing the STL file, I'll try to implement it!!!
