It seems that there is little interest in screw mount leicas. Here is the set up:- camera Leica iiif - 'adapter tube' - Telyt 280mm f4.8 (canada).
What 'adapter tube' should be used NOT Visoflea or FocoRapid. A simple tube.  Google cannot understand the question.
If anyone knows and tells mew I will be most grateful. In anticipation - Many Thanks

If you are talking about a Visoflex II or III, Novoflex makes an adapter. Other brands are available.

For a Visoflex I, you would need to measure the length of said Visoflex, and use an extension tube (or combination of tubes) with the same length. I don't have a Visoflex I to measure, and I couldn't find the measurement in the wiki, but someone here might know.

I understand your question that you are looking how to attach a Telyt 280mm f/4.8 of Canadian production to a IIIf.

For every Telyt which was made for the Visoflex sytem you need a Visoflex body. The Visoflex II was made for M-mount as well as for screwmount. So if you have a IIIf you choose the Visoflex II for screwmount and attach your Telyt to it - it will work perfectly and look like this:

This is the last version of the Telyt which actually has an M-mount. Though this doesn't matter as the Visoflex body has an M-mount für the lens, but a screw-mount for the camera, so it will work with a IIIf. Now of course there are several versions of the Telyt-V 280mm f/4.8 around. Tell us which one you have and we'll look for the right combination.

There are also several adapters around which substitute the Visoflex body. Though these adapters of course have no own viewfinder and no focussing control. So if you use an IIIf the Visoflex is your way to go.

Leitz also offered a TXFOO/14023 extension tube which replaced the Visoflex for a screwmount camera. it is rare and even if you find one, you will need a separate viewfinder for 280mm. I know only separate viewfinders for 200 and 400mm, not for 280mm.  Even if you found one, it would only get you the frame of 280mm but no focussing control. The use of your lens with the IIIf would be extremely limited. Therefore: the Visoflex is your solution of choice. It is not heavy or cumbersome, but will do its job to enable you focusing your lens on a screwmount body perfectly.

Go with a Visoflex ! If you attempt a tube of similar length on any rangefinder film body I can guarantee your focusing will be off, although it could work with a digital body where you have a EVF, such as most mirrorless bodies.
