I've just got a Q3 28 to complement my 43.

I have a set of Profiles built up on my 43 and have changed the individual buttons to my liking.

I have my 43 Profile saved, but when I switch the SD card to the new 28 it doesn't seem to accept my existing 43 Profile's.

I want to be able to switch cameras knowing what I do on one I can do on the other.

Anyone else have a similar experience or a workaround suggestion. Both camera's a running on 3.1.1 Firmware.

Thanks for your help.

I don't think it's possible directly. There is another thread that considered Q2>Q3 transfer.

@Ian day has gone into the .ics file structure in some detail, and was drafting an app to store, edit and reload profiles from different Leicas, but that has gone quiet.

I agree it would be nice to do.

Edit. Ian Day's profile shows he has made 41 posts, of which only 2 are still visible. Maybe he got banned for hacking Leica firmware! I know a number of people (including myself) sent him .ics files from various Leicas, and he had a working app, which I tested, but its functionality (the range of camera settings it could adjust) was limited.

This is functionality Leica really ought to provide, either in the form of a stand-alone application program or preferably as an API that would enable users to design other software to process the data in the .LCS file.  It doesn't strike me as a heavy lift for the company either to create or to maintain; the latter would only be necessary when the camera firmware was updated.  It shouldn't be necessary for an end-user to reverse-engineer the file format.

I agree that it must only be a software tweak  to allow two units running the same firmware to have interoperability.
I appreciate I’m not trying to move data from a Q to SL or M but from one camera to another that are essentially the same unit.
As an aside I see the firmware updates don’t work in both cameras. Each firmware is specific to the 28 and 43.

Come on Leica it can’t be that hard!

They could as well store the data in XML or JSON which is readable.

The profile data are in JSON.  But their semantics are undocumented.  A few of the arrays are easy to decipher because their contents include English words, but most contain numerical codes whose meaning is not self-evident.
