Hi,

I purchased a Leica R7 and Summicron 50/2 lens (3-cam), I noticed that I'm getting strangely long exposure times. I measured scene with Lightme app, Film Kodak UltraMax400. Camera is set for ISO 400, Apprture priority, full field metering. Fresh set of batteries.

Case1 App: ISO 400, F5.6, 1/640; Camera ISO 400, F5.6, 1/45

Case2 App: ISO 400, F2.8, 1/125; Camera ISO 400, F2.8, 1/15

I was setting my digital camera to match App setting and pictures were good, when setting digital camera to Leica R7 setting there were significantly overexposed. In general I'm getting few stops overexposure from my Leica R7. Does anyone have an idea what is going on?

Best Regards,

Piotr

Exposure compensation setting? Both camera readings are about three stops more exposure compared with the meter app given a small variance for different metering fields. I may be wrong but isn't the maximum amount of exposure compensation you can set with the R7 also three stops?

You can get an R7 manual here

Because it does seem to be a repeatable three stops I’d spend an evening switching the exposure compensation dial back and forth to see if the contacts can’t be cleared if is contamination or corrosion.

You could also try giving they inside of the mirror box a good blow with a filtered blower.  It could just be dust on the sensor.

If you mean blowing the dust off the light meter sensor it would mean the dust is as deep as the dust on the top of grandfathers clock for it to block three stops of exposure.

Have you tried to set the camera to DX instead of ISO 400, too?
