kodz1k Posted June 24 Share #1 Posted June 24 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I purchased a Leica R7 and Summicron 50/2 lens (3-cam), I noticed that I'm getting strangely long exposure times. I measured scene with Lightme app, Film Kodak UltraMax400. Camera is set for ISO 400, Apprture priority, full field metering. Fresh set of batteries. Case1 App: ISO 400, F5.6, 1/640; Camera ISO 400, F5.6, 1/45 Case2 App: ISO 400, F2.8, 1/125; Camera ISO 400, F2.8, 1/15 I was setting my digital camera to match App setting and pictures were good, when setting digital camera to Leica R7 setting there were significantly overexposed. In general I'm getting few stops overexposure from my Leica R7. Does anyone have an idea what is going on? Best Regards, Piotr
Advertisement Posted June 24 Posted June 24 Hi kodz1k, Take a look here Leica R7 - overexposing . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
gbealnz Posted June 25 Share #2 Posted June 25 Have you tried setting it to "M". Are the meter suggestions any different. Tried a different lens? (maybe the lens cam is faulty?)
250swb Posted June 25 Share #3 Posted June 25 (edited) Exposure compensation setting? Both camera readings are about three stops more exposure compared with the meter app given a small variance for different metering fields. I may be wrong but isn't the maximum amount of exposure compensation you can set with the R7 also three stops? You can get an R7 manual here https://butkus.org/chinon/leica/leica_r7/leica_r7.htm Edited June 25 by 250swb
pop Posted June 25 Share #4 Posted June 25 Rotten sensor in the camera?
kodz1k Posted June 25 Author Share #5 Posted June 25 I tried also Sumicron 35/2 - same results. As for Exposure Compensation it is set to "0"
earleygallery Posted June 25 Share #6 Posted June 25 Does it expose correctly on manual? Assuming it does then the auto metering must be faulty, and if it is faulty I don’t think it can be repaired.
250swb Posted June 25 Share #7 Posted June 25 Advertisement (gone after registration) Because it does seem to be a repeatable three stops I’d spend an evening switching the exposure compensation dial back and forth to see if the contacts can’t be cleared if is contamination or corrosion. Eclectic Man Posted June 26 Share #8 Posted June 26 You could also try giving they inside of the mirror box a good blow with a filtered blower. It could just be dust on the sensor.

If you mean blowing the dust off the light meter sensor it would mean the dust is as deep as the dust on the top of grandfathers clock for it to block three stops of exposure. Have you tried to set the camera to DX instead of ISO 400, too?
