I just bought this Leica 1a at auction (#37698) and noticed threads exposed between the body and the back of the lens when the lens is extended. I didn't see anything similar on other older 1a's I found online. Is this the close Focus version or am I missing a piece that is supposed to cover those threads?

I finally added a 1A to my collection (19xxx) and it is also has the close focus lens. I shot the fist test roll today using PAN-F (50 ISO) using my FOKOS to measure distance (along with an M7 & Summicron which agreed with the FOKOS). Overall it worked well, but shots generally showed significant front focus when using f3.5 or so. Later I noticed the lens scale (in ft.) has another line scribed positioned so if the focus index is at infinity, this line is about 30 ft, I suspect the close focus lens was swapped on this body and doesn't match the tolerances. The lens focus also drags at places, and the extending and holding in the locked position are pretty loose. I think I'll see if DAG can sort this out, as overall the test shots look promising.
