Thank you, your help would be greatly appreciated. I tried this with SL3-S with FW 3.1.1, 35SL APO, Sandisk 300 mbps SD card. I do not see any message when turning the camera on. It comes on as normal with no error. If I remove the SD card (no SD and no CF in the camera), I do get the “please insert memory card” message. It seems you either have somehow found a bug (camera + lens + card) or perhaps your card has an issue.

Please leave SD card in, turn the camera off, now remove the battery for a few seconds, inset the battery, turn the camera on. Do you see brief (about 0.5 second) in red message ‘Please insert memory card’?

I don’t receive any “please insert memory card” message with the SD card in. If I take it out, and have no card in at all, I receive that message. Camera is switched off, battery inserted, camera switched on briefly (0.3 second) in red following screen appears: No memory card, Please insert memory card. Memory cards are in camera and have not been removed prior replacing battery. Camera functions perfectly, on subsequent switching the camera on and off under normal usage ‘No memory card, Please insert memory card’ message does not show. Prior charging battery via USB C internally in camera this message did not show. For SL3-S and SL3 owners only, please remove the battery for a few moments and insert it back in, switch the camera on. Please let me know if you see a brief (about 0.5 second) in red message ‘Please insert memory card’. Thank you for your assistance.

I also have the "problem" with the SL3 and the SL3-S, but it doesn't affect the function at all. If I'm not sure whether there is a card in it, I press the play button and the pictures are displayed.

I have has the SL3S since launch and nothing like this has ever occurred. It might have something to do with the type of card/cards in use. And or the Storage option configuration. I am using OWC Atlas Pro CF express 4.0 Type B 512GB, SD Card is an Atlas Pro SDXC UHS-II V60 512GB. As well I have used a SD SanDisk Extreme Pro 300 MB/s. FW is 3.1.1. Any subsequent camera on/off (without battery removal) does not generate above error. Camera functions perfect. I have tried number of card/storage option combination most, but not always generate ‘No Memory card inserted Please insert memory card’. I have contacted Leica Technical Support once I have an answer I will post it.
jaapv Posted June 16 Share #31 Posted June 16 I think it is simply a matter of an error in timing. The camera is fully ready started up but the card not yet initiated completely. A harmless bug that will probably be fixed soon.

There is no definitive explanation why the error occurred. I use different cards than what @V23 uses and the error still occurs and it’s not consistent. I can’t reproduce it consistently. And most importantly like you said it’s harmless. don’t be obsessed with it @V23, just enjoy it. Life is much grander than that 0.3 second of nuance 😀

Billfilm77 Posted July 22 Share #36 Posted July 22 I recently sold my SL2-S and purchased the SL3-S. I am experiencing the card/power up issue explained in the feed. The camera works fine but it is an issue. For me I grabbed the camera to shoot an opportunity that was very brief and it came up with the 0.5 sec red insert card error then flashed 'CFe' at the bottom right and would not let me use the camera. After removing the battery and the cards (1 x CF and 1 x SD) it worked fine, but I think the issue is with CF cards and their relationship with the power up. I will be contacting Leica to discuss a fix and to see what they are doing about it as this is not acceptable. My SL2-s never skipped a beat.

I don't think your issue is the same as OP described and I experienced. The blip of second of error message indicating "no memory card" ONLY appears once immediately after you remove and replace the battery. It never appears in any other cases. Your case is different. algrove Posted Saturday at 09:12 PM Share #40 Posted Saturday at 09:12 PM I have had issues with OWC cards and devices so I now steer clear of OWC. OP, how about Sandisk Extreme Pro cards? Mine are fine.
