Advertisement Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Hi earleygallery, Take a look here iiif vs. iiig question. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
harmsr Posted February 20, 2008 Author Share #22 Posted February 20, 2008 OK - Here is the latest update in the iiif vs. iiig dilema. I bought the iiig in great shape, bright VF, nice contrast RF, everything functioning smooth as silk. Now my problem is that I wear glasses and really love a 50 as my primary focal length. Using the iiig VF, I can't see the side frame lines at all even though it is a larger finder. I really had to use an external finder. With my iiif, I can see what the 50 is going to compose if I don't want to use the external finder. Yes the image is smaller, but usable in the iiif finder. Based on that I sent the iiig back to the dealer and kept the iiif. I also sold my 90 Elmar, as I have decided to just dedicate this iiif body to my screw mount 50s. The iiif won out and is here to stay along with the matching 50 Coll. Cron and my current production 50 Cron that is the special edition LTM version. I'm finally happy and have no more equipment doubts relative to the Barnacks. It was an interesting experiment, but I really love that little iiif. wizard Posted February 20, 2008 Share #23 Posted February 20, 2008 Ray, I wear glasses, too. What I have done to solve the viewfinder problem is to get hold of an original correction lens holder for the IIIg. I then had my optician install the appropriate correction lens into the holder, and that works very fine. The original holder covers both the rangefinder and the viewfinder entrance windows at the back of the camera. Cheers, Andy
