Peter please do this:

Adjustment Procedure

1. Preparation

Place the FODIS on your camera or a stable surface.

Select a target at the closest working distance of the rangefinder (typically around 1 meter or 3.5 feet).

2. Align the Rangefinder

Look through the eyepiece and adjust the rangefinder dial until the two images in the viewfinder coincide (line up perfectly).

3. Adjust the Scale

Without moving the dial, locate the central setscrew (often surrounded by a locknut) on the device.

Loosen this screw gently.

Rotate the dial (or the scale) so that the distance number indicated matches the actual measured distance to your target.

Tighten the screw to lock the adjustment in place.

4. Check at Infinity

Repeat the process with a distant object (at or near infinity).

If the alignment is off at infinity, you may need to make a fine adjustment:

Some models have a "two-hole nut" (requiring a spanner wrench) for more precise calibration at infinity. Loosen this nut, adjust the center slot screw to bring the images into alignment at infinity, then retighten the nut.

5. Recheck and Repeat

After each adjustment, check both the closest distance and infinity.

Repeat the process as needed until both ends of the scale are accurate.

6. Maintenance Note

If the mechanism feels stiff or the arm does not move freely, old grease may have hardened. Cleaning and relubricating the pivot points can restore smooth operation, but disassembly should only be attempted if you are experienced, as the parts are delicate.

Additional Tips

Use a proper spanner wrench for nuts to avoid damaging the device.

If you are unsure or the device is valuable, consider having a professional technician perform the adjustment.

Troubleshooting

If the rangefinder does not return to its resting position or feels unusually stiff, dried grease or a weak spring may be the cause. Cleaning and lubrication are recommended, but proceed with caution.

If the yellow filter or optics seem out of place, some FODIS units may have had their elements swapped or incorrectly assembled over the years. Only attempt to correct this if you have the correct tools and experience.

The two openings aside to the set screw are meant for the use of a special tool. Herewith you can hold the calibrated measurement with one hand, wile you fasten the central screw with the other one.

Die beiden Öffnungen neben der Stellschraube dienen zum Ansetzen eines Spezialwerkzeugs. So können Sie mit einer Hand das kalibrierte Maß festhalten, während Sie mit der anderen Hand die zentrale Schraube festziehen.

Hello and thank you all, it worked great.
