I just received this and was surprised how tiny it is. Gives the same readings as my Sekonic 208 so is OK. and Reasonably priced

Lots of other goodies there too, including x-ray pouches for film and films.

The top-mounted display (like the old Leicameter MR) is best for those of use who trim exposure with aperture, since you need to look down from above to see the lens aperture setting - especially with older lenses that don't have click-stops.

Ship date was May when I ordered. It looks like it's slipped a couple months.

I've used VCII, as you can see in my profile photo, but can't wait to have a ss coupled meter again.

Waiting patiently...

I never realised this!

There you go. I've been waiting decades for a Leicameter replacement. Finally, Keks has done it. 👍

Leica is producing the Leica M-A since 2014 now and of course it has the groove for the analoge Leicameter on its shutter speed dial. Why didn't they come up with a solution like this? Perhaps it’s the next step after the Monopan. 😁

Tooling for the shutter dial on the MA dates back to the M3 more than likely. If it ain't broke Leica ain't worried about it IMO

Agreed - Leica just copied the M3 shutter dial to allow for the MR type of meter, but many assumed they would also introduce a new meter to fit it. Probably couldn't see enough sales to justify it. Perhaps they'll just rebrand the keks M meter at a modest 400% markup. After all, Leitz didn't actually make the MR meters either.

Does anyone know if this is coming to the UK, at the moment I can only see it listed as for sale in the US, I can import it but shipping and import duties could well make it financially prohibitive.

Thanks.

Update - None of the UK stockists on Keks website have the new M Meter listed, one stockist doesn't even list Keks meters at all.

I suspect this will become available in the UK. There were samples on show at Photographica in London in May where I picked up a flyer for this. The supplier on the flyer is Capix, Unit 1, Woodbine Farm, Oundle Road, Luton, Northamptonshire, PE8 5ND (www.capix.com).

Thanks, I picked this up from Keks website but as yet Capix don't list the M Meter, I will have to monitor situation and keep checking websites.

My sample arrived and I'm overall favorably impressed. Many design details came from the LeicaMeter MR: It mounts the same way - turn the camera and KEKS shutter speed dials to B. The manual says to hold the KEKS speed dial UP while sliding onto the accessory shoe, which is awkward. Luckily it actually works just like the MR meter: with the KEKS dial at B (index mart on top of dial to the right), lift the KEKS dial up tight against the housing and rotate it counter-clockwise about 1/4 turn and it locks in the up position. Then slide the meter onto the camera, and then turn the KEKS dial clockwise back to the B position and it snaps down so it engages the camera dial slot. (Remove the same: set at B speed, lift the KEKS dial to disengage from the slot and rotate counterclockwise to hold it upwards, then slide off.)

Rechargeable battery - which may limit the life cycle. Push the button on the back to take a reading and it shows the f-stop (as well as set shutter). I prefer the MR meter button on the left end, but both work fine.  This of course shows a single f-stop. I prefer the analog meter of the MR where you can judge between stops, but the KEKS is simple and clear.

It meters within a half stop of my MR meter.

I don't know the effective meter coverage. The MR coverage matched the 90mm framelines, so they may have copied that also.

The bottom of the meter carton says "Designed in Bristol UK"

A good product.

Received mine today and am happy to report the meter looks good and works well.

I was worried a bit about potential customs implications due to current (or absence of) trade negotiations, but it arrived without a hitch 7 days after I was notified by the carrier of its leaving Hong Kong.

I can't wait to put it through its paces.
