I use a coded Kipon 35/135 adapter with my Elmar 35/3.5. Great to use those old lenses (my copy is from 1948) on the M11. The lens is recognized as a Summarit 35/2.4 because i coded the adapter this way. It is easy to code it otherwise if needed. Just a matter of painting coding pits differently. My LTM Summicron 35/2 v1 is coded as 35/2 pre-asph with another copy of the same adapter. Same for my LTM Summicron 50/2 v1. No problem whatsoever. I would just avoid such adapters on LTM 90mm lenses as there are sample variations between them.

Edit: Nothing to do with firmware 2.2.3 all that.

Find a temporary solution under firmware 2.2.3, from the main menu of M11 - camera settings - dust protection, and turn it off. In this way, when the M11 detects that there is no lens, the shutter curtain will not be closed.

Turn off the dust protection function, and the Elmar 5cm with the cut away L39-M adapter can really take photos. Although the manual setting of the lens 50/2.8 is recorded as the wrong 50/0, at least it can take photos.

The bug has been fixed by firmware 2.0.2 last year if i remember well. I could not use use some of my uncoded LTM to M adapters before this firmware, due to the shutter being closed the way dust protection was implemented then. Since firmware 2.0.2, i just toggle off dust protection for some uncoded lenses and/or adapters, while keeping it on for coded lenses and adapters. I have set up a user profile for that and it works fine since then. Nothing new in firmware 2.2.3 on this point AFAIK.
