I just received back my Dad’s 1953 Leica 50mm 2.0 lens. It was cleaned. His camera was a IIIf.  I need digital cameras these days and the only mirrorless camera I have is a Canon EOS M50. But, I am told I could buy an adapter or two?   But, I’d like confirmation from those with experience what exactly I need? I was told I needed two adapters and then told I only needed one. The bought a Q3 in January and that is of course a fixed .  I cannot afford buying another camera at this time. But, I would love to shoot through this newly restored lens and am hoping I can do it without purchasing another camera just for this one lens. I would appreciate any guidance on this!  Thank you!

While you can adapt the screw-mount (39mm) lens first to fit a Leica M mount, and then use an M-mount to Canon adapter, it is simpler just to get a single 39mm to CAnon adapter like this one:

Shooting old leica lenses on modern mirrorless digital is a delight. The adapters are ubiquitous and dirt cheap and you escape many of the difficulties of the old days like inaccurate rangefinders, compensating for focus shift, etc.

If the digital camera is a mirrorless design just buy an adapter from LTM to the manufacturers mount, if it isn't mirrorless you can't do it. The adapter is only a spacer so nothing fancy is needed.
