rkny Posted May 12 Share #1  Posted May 12 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I’ve searched the forums and the web, and I’m still having difficulty arriving at a definitive understanding of which metal cap fits over the hood of the 35/50 Summarit 2.4 M. I have a mint copy of the 35mm, and a mint hood, and a cap with a small ding in it, that I would like to keep as a user. But I’d like to find a brand new back up cap. People have said that the 14475 cap made for the 75/90 2.5 is the correct cap for the 35mm 2.4. The 14475 seems to have been discontinued and is out of stock basically everywhere. However, another cap, the 14477 is also described to be made for the 75/90 2.5 and it has some limited availability online. To add to the confusion, one person has said they use the cap from the Summarit 35mm 2.4 on their APO 35mm 2.0 M, which begs the question, how does the considerably more expensive cap for the 35 APO fit on what I would’ve I assumed is a much smaller lens (the Summarit). To add further confusion, I have seen two different versions of the 14477… One has a relatively flat face with a thin lip, like the cap for the 35 APO. The other has a more bulbus/rounded rim on the face, like the cap that came with my 35 2.4. Can anyone clear this up? Will a 14477 actually fit my lens? What is the difference between the 14475 and the 14477? Was the diameter of the 75/90 2.5 that much smaller than the current versions?  I can’t imagine a cap that fits those large telephoto hoods will also fit my relatively tiny 35 2.4 Summarit. It’s amazing to me how little information there is about this. In terms of packaging, it seems that Leca has never actually made a cap specifically for the 35/50. 2.4 Summarits, and has never published a part number describing explicit compatibility. Published exact outer dimensions of the lens and inner dimensions of the proper cap are similarly elusive.  Edited May 12 by rkny

The fact the Summarit cap fits another lens is pure chance.
