'll jump into the sweepstakes and predict a weight of ~500g - or more

ooof... not fat shaming the new noct, but my CV 35 f1.2 v3 is only around 330g. for the added weight (and cost) the i'd expect it to be something special

Not to worry (yet). Just "my guess" based on very limited visual evidence. 😜

As to C/V vs. Leica weights - sure.

The main reason I love my C/V Nokton 75mm f/1.5 is that it is about 340 grams (as well as being amazingly sharp at f/1.5). Whereas the vintage Leica 75mm f/1.4 is 560g (last, German version), and even the slightly-smaller-aperture Leica 75mm f/2 ASMA is ~410g.

I'm pretty sure C/V uses more aluminum parts in their lens barrels, where Leica uses more brass. And skips using floating elements, which require a couple of extra metal helices inside. And doesn't build their lens hoods into the "base lens weight."

In Leica's favor, the 135mm APO-Telyt f/3.4 uses 5 much thinner elements than the Tele-Elmar f/4's 5 elements - and is the lightest Leica 135 since the early-1960s Elmar (no "Tele").

This thread prompted me to dust-off my VM 35mm f1.2 v3 and venture forth with it on my M11.  The 330g and modest VF blockage is a small price to pay for the subject isolation offered by the f1.2 aperture.  Taken on Tuesday at the Tank Museum, Bovingdon in Dorset.

As & when the mooted 35mm Nocitilux does hit the market, it is highly unlikely that I'll be tempted to have it join its slightly larger brother (50mm f1.2 Re-Issue).

Could it be a 40mm Noctilux ? ( for the M11-V ) or 43mm ?

Dof. scale at f/16 infinity to 3m looks same as Voigtlander 40mm Nokton 1.2 ; the 35mm Summilux lens at f/16 dof..scale shows just over 2m.

Yes, I hadn’t noticed this, but based on your comment and after looking at the photograph of the lens, I believe you might be onto something here. I think it is a 40 mm.

Based upon this image of the 35mm Summilux that shows depth of field at f/16 of infinity down to just over 2m I’m guessing that if the new lens is a 35mm then Leica have amended their depth of field tables with a circle of confusion that is more suited to high resolution digital capture rather than film, which has been the traditional basis for depth of field tables.

Not 40mm. Already leaked in firmware 2.2.2 to be a 35mm f/1.2.

The depth of field is greater than 2m because first you have to align the infinity symbol with the f16 mark to the right.  Then read off the distance to the f16 mark on the left.
