setuporg Posted May 7 Share #1 Posted May 7 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am experimenting with ways to use Q343 as an interview camera. At f/2.0 it creates a beautiful background separation and focuses on the people in front of it. The problem occurs when there are two people talking on camera. Regardless of the AF mode set to object detection, Q343 seems to focus on the distant things in the middle (between the talking heads). I use the FOTOS app to check focus and then plug in the USB-C mike. At that point FOTOS must be disconnected and I can’t check focus anymore. I also have to start the recording pushing the button, so I check again that the focus is on the second person who is in front of the camera. Still Q343 changes focus to the middle distant point and the people are blurred! is there a way to ensure they are reliably in focus? I really hope Leica fixes FOTOS so it works with a USB-C mike. Advertisement Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Hi setuporg, Take a look here Focusing on two people on the sides of the frame. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
LocalHero1953 Posted May 7 Share #2 Posted May 7 Two questions Have you set the crop frame to the maximum? AF works only inside the crop frame. Is the camera on a tripod and are the subjects fairly static? Why not use manual focus?
setuporg Posted May 7 Author Share #3 Posted May 7 I pointed on one person on the touch screen, making it focus on him. Then joined. Have not adjusted the crop frame but it apparently moved. Have not thought of manual focus but that seems the way to go given Q343 has it!
setuporg Posted May 8 Author Share #4 Posted May 8 Both work perfectly with manual focus. Did a second take with MF and it’s fine. Leica lenses are worth it.
