Pierre68 Posted May 4 Share #1  Posted May 4 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been using a used Leica R6 for the last 6 month without any issue. But today I found out that the film advance lever does not come back to its place after cocking.... There seems to be some white gunk coming out ouf the mechanic... Anyone has an idea of what the issue could be?

250swb Posted May 11 Share #8 Â Posted May 11 'White gunk' would usually be associated with emulsified grease, which does tend to 'expand'. So has the camera been used on rain lately? Either way I can't see how grease can overcome the return spring, so I guess the return spring is the problem.
gbealnz Posted May 12 Share #9 Â Posted May 12 Assuming the return spring is the issue, can you manually/physically return it to the home position?

Yes that's exactly what I am doing. And doing so I can't take pictures. Everything seems to be working. It just feels as if the spring or whatever is supposed to pull back the lever does not have enough strength: the is a pull but to weak to return the lever in position. Or there is too much friction...
Martin T-M Posted November 2 Share #11 Â Posted November 2 Same issue with mine (bought on the bay) it was fixed by Will van Manen (Kamera Service, Netherlands) Â
Pierre68 Posted November 3 Author Share #12  Posted November 3 Mine had finally been repaired by Leica Switzerland Previous owner had repaired the broken plastic film avance lever with glue and some of it had finded its way inside the mechanism... Now it works perfectly
