OG in this context means original but it stands for Original Gangsta. A common term used among US gang members. I watched too many gangster films in my childhood. I  grew up wanting to be an OG but thankfully that desire went away.

Common amongst US gangsters before like, the 1980’s at which point it entered the popular culture lexicon as rap music did as well - and was widely used to just mean original in whatever context it was used in. I can’t speak to other places but pretty much any American millennial (Gen X maybe even?) or younger knows what this term is. Language is always evolving, there’s a lot of slang and idiomatic takes I don’t know, but assuming a strictly American perspective here, which is obviously not the scope of this forum - so please forgive that - it takes some real work to not recognize something that has been utilized for 30 plus years.

Anyways, MPB shows M11’s in stock for me. Not that I want one.

MPB UK, they only have the P & D… the D is ‘like new’. Some not so poor person took a hit.

You will probably see a number of M11s back up for sale when the EVF model is released.

You might be surprised! Some of us “Old Geezers” like their digital working just like their film Leica!

Just for a laugh i entered my m11 black chrome on MPB uk and they quoted £2400 boxed and mint yet the private sales figure is still around £5k, i know they are a business and have to make a margin but not having that margin adjusted based on value to me is just nuts. You`d have to be pretty desperate to sell to them at that price!

Yup huge hit, they exceed doubling their money on a high value item. Suppose they’re just trying their hand at that price. Can’t see many people selling an m11 for anywhere near that.

Agree that's a silly quote, which probably means they are not interested in taking on more stock.

There does seem to be more secondhand M11's currently for sale.  Red Dot have 8, including one 'D' compared to just 2 M10's plus one M10 Mono.  While it's now generally accepted that M11 firmware is pretty robust, it's an expensive purchase and there is probably still some reluctance to buy a secondhand product.  Also, I do get the impression that people just aren't spending at the moment so the cameras sit on the shelf for longer, which means more money tied up in stock financing.

is interesting isn’t it. I imagine companies like MPB, even the risk of a 6 month warranty on such expensive kit with such a bad reputation previously, is a hard buy. Plus it isn’t a great camera to be left with if the m11-V gets a lot of traction.

You expect that for a camera that has been out for three years. Supply isn't as tight as it was a year or two ago, so used bodies stay in stock longer. I don't think that photographers are dumping the M11 "en masse."

as usual, depends on which region you're in.

saw tonnes of used M11s and SL3 for sale in Tokyo yesterday.

That's consistent with the age of the camera. Stores that specialize in Leica had a list of interested buyers for used M11s in the past, so you didn't see those cameras on the shelves. They sold as soon as they became available. That's not the case three years after release. Initial demand has been met, so it's more of a buyers' market.

Why do you think so,  the M11-V being an entirely different product from the M11, if and when it materializes?

Sorry I mean MPB being left with a pile of M11 if the V gets traction. The V personally is not for me, I like not having an EVF, the OVF feels natural.  I think it is a separate product too, but if the Q is anything to go by, the V will be flying off the shelves. And I do think ppl will in turn dump their OVF M11s to finance one.

Not if they are offered only £2,400 (or less) but there seems to be a wide variation in what dealers will offer.

Leica Mayfair seem content for product to sit on the shelf for longer and that is reflected in prices paid and values quoted.  I guess they don't have the same pressure on finances that some independents have, plus they are only trading in Leica products.  It's also in their interest not to see values drop too sharply.

Agree yeah… years ago when I sold my M262 and a few lenses, MPB offered a £1k less than the camera shop in Sheffield. It def pays to shop around.

US MPB has m11’s between 7,195- 6,992 . Still holding pretty high value here. Been trying to find a deal on one and no luck .

That is quite high. MPB Uk Had about 8 in stock at one point and dropped them to £5000 which is extremely cheap, they retailed at £7800 here.

To stir this debate, I have many times gotten more from selling MPB than I paid for used, but most were items under 1000 euros. I do not flip gear but with careful planning you could do it. I have many transactions with MPB EU, it can still be a good (sometimes great) deal, but mostly for those who buy brand new expensive items and try to sell them a year or two after a new, more megapixely model comes along it is a massive dissapointment.

I’ve generally done fine on MPB, cannot say I’ve profited, you have done really well…  but selling used gear over the years as you say the pricing has opportunistically been good.  I’ve snagged a couple of cheap higher end point and shoots at a lot less than normal resale price from them before now too, just to get my fix 😁 I didn’t get an m11 for £5k though unfortunately.

Well, I bought an M11 from MPB in March for £5000. It's like new, fully boxed with all accessories and has been faultless. I was so happy that I got an £8000 camera for £5000!

So, out of interest I checked the trade in value yesterday and it's £2400.

I've gone from having an £8000 camera to a £2400 camera in one day 😀
