OK. Another Russian girl, LOL. I have shot her as pure fashion before. She's in a Metal band now and asked me to shoot them. Here is one of her and of the band. As you can see, I mixed the approaches, with the hair fan. Two of the guys were nearly impossible to shoot as they were very uncomfortable in front of the camera and couldn't follow direction. I felt like my experience helped me get some servicable images for them

I agree with smep, present them in a factory or another interesting location, on- or backstage, in the studio - just some ideas...

Probably then they feel better in font of a camera, too.

Well, the girl is trying to be wild... :)

On the other hand, the male members of the band look like what they are - teenage boys... :D ...and the "satanic" shirt is a strange contrast to the teenage appearance.

Regards, Peter.

Peter -

I know I commented on this, but I don't know where it went. You've captured really appropriate "attitiude" with the young woman, and the lights, hair fan, costume and pose enhance that. The guys in the band look as though they probably are never comfrotable anywhere, even among themselves, and I wonder if they are misfits who will seek revenge on their classmates in a totally unacceptable way. So they look like misfits, MAYBE entertaining voilence, but you do not see any of that in their faces or poses. Perhaps generally posing them, and then getting them to discuss things that really get them angry, and then begin shooting away. In that situationI think your studio setup will work well.

To be totally frank, this was done as a favour on a Sunday morning...so I was pretty lazy. I agree a location shoot in an abandoned warehouse would have been great. I did do a shot in the building freight elevator...again I was too lazy to do anything more than flat lighting, as it had already exceeding the time I set aside (boy am I listing excuses!) but I am attaching for reference.

I like the studio setting - it's a refreshing change of pace from the cliched shots of metal / rock bands standing on railroad tracks or abandoned piers. This is a nice look.

What camera / lens combo are you using? The lighting is nice as well.

Peter,

make it more three-dimensional.

The Girl in front and the boys behind here in different distances.

It´s o.k. if the girl is sharp and the others are not.

All in one line is boring for me.

hi peter - try to go with them in their most natural place - their homes or their studio or what ever - the place where they can be totally free as they are. u may feel as if u are reportage photographer or u may feel that u loosed control over them - that is ok. when u get in touch with them and open - then u can come back to the studio and they will be more plasticity and flexibility.

#1 is good and apparently she enjoys posing in front of a lens.

I would try to go through their music and explicitely ask them for the lyrics. Also try to get an idea why they do songs and such. Might blow the budget though...
