pmw001 Posted March 12 Share #1  Posted March 12 Advertisement (gone after registration) My SL3 works perfectly with the BP-SCL6 battery provided. But the two BP-SCL6 I got from the Leica shop in Vienna lead to a message that the camera is not functional with BP-SCL4. Very strange since both were marked BP-SCL6. Firmware 2.01 I wil ask Leica. Anyone had this problem or knows a solution?
Advertisement Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Hi pmw001, Take a look here SL3 and BP-SCL6 problem. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
LeicaR10 Posted March 12 Share #2  Posted March 12 (edited) Pmw001,  First, welcome to the forum  Second, your issue is strange indeed.  Have you checked the two batteries to ensure they are BP-SCL6?  You will find the designation on the side of the battery in small print.  If so, I suggest you fully charge both new batteries.  If that fails, I suggest you call the Leica Shop Vienna and get them exchanged.  They should do so with no issue.  r/ Mark Edited March 12 by LeicaR10
pmw001 Posted March 13 Author Share #3  Posted March 13 Yes of course. Both batteries are  BP-SCL6. The first battery was exchannged, the second has the same issue. The only one that works is the battery included with the camera.
LeicaR10 Posted March 14 Share #4 Â Posted March 14 Pmw001, Â Best return the batteries to the Leica Store. Â If you are close by, take your camera and batteries and let them check it out. Â r/ Mark
pmw001 Posted March 14 Author Share #5  Posted March 14 Solved the issue. 1. Saved profile. 2. Exported profile. 3. Camera reset 4. Removed batteries for a few seconds. 5. Put them back in and restarted the camera. Worked correctly 6. Imported profile. Still worked correctly
LD_50 Posted March 14 Share #6  Posted March 14 Sounds like an obscure bug. I’d still report to Leica via email so hopefully they can root it out. Thanks for sharing your resolution.

VR78 Posted Thursday at 07:53 AM Share #8  Posted Thursday at 07:53 AM I’m not sure whether this is a battery problem or a firmware issue, but my Leica SL3 consistently mis-identifies SCL6 batteries as SCL4. The camera occasionally shuts down, and I sometimes receive warnings about using SCL4 batteries, even though all of mine are SCL6 and clearly labeled as such. Welcome, dear visitor! jaapv Posted Thursday at 09:28 AM Share #9  Posted Thursday at 09:28 AM Start by  ( carefully!) cleaning the battery contacts in the camera using a cotton bud and Isopropyl Alcohol or similar. If the problem persists, contact Leica.
colonel Posted Thursday at 09:48 AM Share #10 Â Posted Thursday at 09:48 AM I also had this problem. I tried the new battery in a SL3 without a lens on. Not sure if this was an issue. When I put a lens on it suddenly recognised it as a SCL6. weird. I think this is an issue with a new battery with no or little voltage level, as the system cant distinguish properly between the SCL4 and SCL6. Once there is a reasonable bit of voltage I think everything is ok.
NickT Posted Thursday at 05:50 PM Share #11 Â Posted Thursday at 05:50 PM it may be the hand grip. i found if I removed the hand grip when a battery was partially run down when reattaching it - it would produce this message. Recharging to full resolved the issue.
steinknies Posted Thursday at 06:07 PM Share #12  Posted Thursday at 06:07 PM I‘ve had the same issue a couple of times (no handgrip).
