wilfredo Posted September 17 Share #21 Posted September 17 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Interesting discussion. Being a Monochrom shooter (most of the time) the M11 Monochrom is very appealing. Here’s my dilemma, from past experience I know I would mostly use it for architectural, panoramic, and portraits in situations where I have time to focus. That’s very limiting. It’s a bit of a conundrum. In the past I kept a DSLR for color work, and for when I needed AF. Now, I keep a Sony Alpha series mirrorless camera for those times when fast AF is crucial. I haven’t gravitated towards an SL2 or SL3 because of its size. It is my understanding that there will be no Q3 Monochrom which buying would have been a no brainer decision for me, especially a Q3-43 Monochrom. Sigh…. For now it looks like I will need to hang tight with my Q2M, and Sony as my main cameras - with the Q2M being my main go to camera most of the time. It’s time to be still and wait. Cheers! Advertisement Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Hi wilfredo, Take a look here Q2 Monochrom User - M11 Monochrom Worth It?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Eoin Posted September 20 Share #22 Posted September 20 Perhaps OP has made his decision, but if not, here is my daily experience. Q2M is a bundle of photography joy, as an M user, it can make great images... almost effortlessly. I'm no luddite, but great as it is, it lacks the manual feel I'm accustomed to with the M, so I choose to shoot it full auto DNG & JPG. In my day bag I carry a Q2M & M11M + 24 Summilux, both cameras have a familiar tone, perspective and look for a personal project I've been working on. For times I need to get an image but can't or don't want to be the photographer, Q2M is perfect for my needs. For the moments where I want to experiment with light, focal length and use my photographic instinct the M11M is the camera. In print, I don't perceive a noticeable difference in the output, I also don't go looking for it. Both cameras are wonderful tools to use.
